Ford recently recalled around 2 million F-150 pickup trucks across North America due to a seat belt issue, where the belts spark and ignite fires. The recall covers vehicles between 2015 and 2018, and follows an investigation from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that began in August 2018 about fires in the trucks, the Chicago Tribune reported. The L9N engine is certified to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) optional low NOx standard of 0.02 g/bhp-hr — a 90 percent reduction from engines operating at the current Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) NOx limit of 0.2 g/bhp-hr.
