Kenworth Truck Co. introduced the WorkCab, a new offering for the dump truck segment of the construction market at the World of Concrete Trade Show in Las Vegas. The WorkCab applies the no-nonsense cab from Kenworth’s T300 medium-duty model to the robust, proven chassis of Kenworth’s T800 heavy duty model. The vehicle is a combination that provides an economical truck solution for dump truck operators. The Kennedy Company of VA Inc. continues work on a tunnel maintenance contract awarded by the Virginia Department of Transportation in March 1999. The one-year contract, valued at approximately $677,000, was renewed in March 2000. The contract involves maintenance of five tunnels in the Hampton Roads area, including the Downtown and Midtown Tunnels, which connect the cities of Portsmouth and Norfolk, the Monitor-Merrimac Bridge-Tunnel, the 1-564 tunnel and the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel. Sithe Awards $1.2-Billion Contract →

In January, Sithe Energies Inc. awarded a $1.2- billion contract for the construction of two new power-generating facilities in New England to Raytheon Engineers and Constructors (RE&C), a unit of Raytheon Company. The two facilities, which will have a total generating capacity of 2,400 MW, are: Mystic Station, a 1,600 MW gas-fired power plant, located in Everett, MA, the largest power generating plant in New England; and Fore River Station, an 800 MW gas-fired power plant, situated in Weymouth, MA, near Boston’s south shore.
