Kenworth Announces New Cab Interior Color Schemes →

Kenworth has announced new colors and interior stylings on its flagship on-highway Kenworth T680 and vocational leader Kenworth T880 models. The new choices also will be available with the newly introduced Kenworth W990. The new color options will be available with both Diamond VIT and Vantage interiors on trucks produced starting in the new year. Felling Trailers Inc. conducted its sixth annual online auction of an FT-3 drop deck utility trailer to benefit a non-profit organization: Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MOCA). The winning bid of $3,400 was placed in the last minutes before the auction closed on Sept. 21st, 2018. The bid winner was local Sauk Centre business owner Jon Stein, owner of Centre Dairy Equipment & Supply Inc. AED Requests Service Truck Exemption, Other HOS Reforms →

On October 10, AED submitted comments in response to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) advance notice of proposed rulemaking seeking input about reforms to the federal hours-of-service (HOS) regulations. The Association has requested that the agency grant a "service truck exemption" from HOS requirements. Given that operating a commercial motor vehicle is incidental to a service technician's primary job responsibilities and they do not face the same demands or fatigue concerns as long-haul truck drivers, AED asserts that a blanket exemption from the HOS regulations for equipment service trucks is the most efficient and safest approach.  Click for more...

TuSimple, a global self-driving truck solutions company, announced plans for further expansion in Tucson, Ariz. The company has been testing its Level 4 Class 8 autonomous trucks in the state of Arizona for more than a year and recently began generating revenue hauling freight for commercial carriers in the state. Ford Recalls F-150 Pickups: What You Need to Know →

Ford recently recalled around 2 million F-150 pickup trucks across North America due to a seat belt issue, where the belts spark and ignite fires. The recall covers vehicles between 2015 and 2018, and follows an investigation from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that began in August 2018 about fires in the trucks, the Chicago Tribune reported. The Kenworth T680 on-highway flagship and Kenworth T880 and T880S vocational leaders are now available with the Cummins Westport L9N near zero NOx emissions natural gas engine. The L9N engine is certified to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) optional low NOx standard of 0.02 g/bhp-hr — a 90 percent reduction from engines operating at the current Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) NOx limit of 0.2 g/bhp-hr. In addition to ultra-low emissions, the L9N features on-board diagnostic capability, a maintenance-free three-way catalyst, closed crankcase ventilation system, and an engine control module with excellent durability, according to the manufacturer.  Click for more...
