Rogers Brothers Corporation recently was commissioned to design a trailer that would solve the special problems encountered in hauling steel coils between processing areas of a steel mill. The trailer needed interchangeable beds to accommodate two different sizes of hot coils and needed to withstand use during three daily shifts, seven days a week. A coal company official said the company chose to pair Cat 730 articulated trucks with Elliott Machine Works’ combination fuel and lube units for the rough terrain and volume of equipment that need to be serviced. Runaway Ramp for Tractor Trailers Set to Open on Leap Day in Conn. →

The ramp will open on Leap Day, Feb. 29. There is great irony in that because it is designed to prevent trucks from jumping off the road.
