DETROIT (AP) Going to a baseball game in Detroit used to mean heading to Michigan and Trumbull, the intersection that became shorthand for Tiger Stadium. Go there today, and all that remains is a small slice of the arena that once drew throngs of fans to see legends like Ty Cobb and Hank Greenberg play. A&A Custom Crushing Recycles U.S. 24’s Excess Material →

As reconstruction continued on U.S. Route 24, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) had to find a solution to deal with excess material that covered the 2.2-mi. (3.5 km) project. ODOT contracted E.S. Wagner, based in Oregon, Ohio, as the general contractor, which brought on A&A Custom Crushing Inc., based in Wauseon, Ohio, to do the recycling. Mack Develops Low NOx Solution for CARB Idling Rules →

MACK MP7 and MP8 engines have been certified to meet California’s 2008 criteria to limit emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) while idling. This means Mack customers with compliant engines will not have to shut down their engines after five minutes of idling as otherwise required by California regulations which took effect earlier this year. The California Air Resources Board requires trucks to stop idling after no more than five minutes, under most circumstances.  Click for more...


Freightliner, Sterling Offer UltraShift HV Transmissions →

Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation recently announced that the UltraShift Highway Value (HV) transmission is now being offered by Daimler Trucks North America on the company’s 2009 lineup of Freightliner M2-106 and Sterling Acterra medium-duty trucks. The vehicles are available with Cummins engines and GVW ratings up to 33,000 lbs. (15,000 kg). “Daimler Trucks North America, which manufactures Freightliner, Sterling and Western Star trucks, has selected the UltraShift HV so that they could offer their customers the fuel saving features of an automated transmission,” said Dontia M.  Click for more...

Burris Clears Damaged Va. Strip Mall →

According to the National Weather Service, the tornado that hit Suffolk, Va., April 28 had estimated winds of 160 mph. Amazingly, over the tornado’s 10-mi. (16 km) path through the city, there were no fatalities. Reports say approximately 200 injuries occurred in the state of Virginia that day because of the numerous tornados that hit. Rogers Brothers Corporation recently was commissioned to design a trailer that would solve the special problems encountered in hauling steel coils between processing areas of a steel mill. The trailer needed interchangeable beds to accommodate two different sizes of hot coils and needed to withstand use during three daily shifts, seven days a week.
