Kenworth W900S Mixers, T800 Dump Trucks Added to Fleet →

When three subsidiaries (Century Concrete, Fordyce Concrete and Material Transport) of the largest American-owned cement manufacturer in the country were looking to purchase dependable and reliable trucks several years ago, the choice was Kenworth W900S mixers and Kenworth T800 dump trucks. They haven’t looked back and now operate more than 60 Kenworth trucks. The decision to go with the Kenworth W900S for its mixer fleet and the Kenworth T800 for its tractor and dump fleet has been a good one, according to Rob Tucker, general manager of Century Concrete, Fordyce Concrete and Material Transport, all subsidiaries of Ash Grove Cement.  Click for more...

Truck Maker Volvo Posts Q4 Profit →

STOCKHOLM (AP) Swedish truck maker AB Volvo on Feb 4 posted a profit for the fourth quarter, bouncing back due to a jump in sales on all its markets as well as success in keeping costs down. Still, the earnings missed analyst expectations somewhat, mainly on the back of higher raw material prices and unfavorable exchange rates. CEO Leif Johansson, who is leaving his post in the second half of the year, said his company had ended 2010 strongly, attributing the success to increased sales and “a conscious effort to maintain our costs on a low level.” Johansson said Volvo is seeing a continued gradual improvement in Europe as well as a healthy recovery in North America.  Click for more...

Truck Maker Volvo Returns to Profit in Q3 →

STOCKHOLM (AP) Swedish truck maker AB Volvo said Oct. 22 it returned to a profit in the third quarter, helped by strong demand in Brazil, India, China and Russia as well as a rebound in its mature markets. The Goteborg-headquartered group reported a net profit of $421 million in the quarter, in contrast with last year’s loss. Revenues soared 32 percent. Volvo said almost half of its total sales came from outside its traditional markets, including Brazil, India, China and Russia, but that both North America and the European truck market were performing well, too.  Click for more...
