XL Specialized Trailers is introducing the next model in its galvanized trailer series, a mechanical full-width gooseneck (MFG). The XL galvanized 80 MFG is now available and is ideal for commercial applications, according to the manufacturer.

XL builds its galvanized units with the same T-1 flange, 80K web as its other lowboys. The hot-dip galvanizing process creates a durable barrier between the elements and the steel, enabling the trailer to withstand harsh weather and road conditions and extending its lifetime by up to three times over standard steel. By fully submerging the trailer in hot zinc, every area of the unit is protected.

Galvanizing also provides additional surface strength for excellent abrasion resistance; scratches will self-repair to seal out the elements with minimum maintenance. Notably, XL's galvanized 80 MFG has a low base weight of approximately 15,600 lbs. (7,076 kg), offering added durability without sacrificing hauling capability.

The galvanized MFG offers all the customer-friendly features enjoyed on XL's standard MFG. The full-width upper deck features a lockable toolbox with a chain rack and light. For added strength on loading areas, Apitong decking is standard on the front, main and rear deck.

The main deck is fully equipped for versatile hauling, with eight d-rings per side, 14 half-inch (1.2 cm) chain slots per side, and removable swing-out outriggers on 24-in. (61 cm) centers. The 18-in. (45.7 cm) loaded deck height and 6 in. (15.2 cm) of ground clearance allow drivers to transport tall loads. Manual ride height control and double donuts allow the main deck height to vary 1.5 in. (3.8 cm) in the wheel area and 1.5 in. (3.8 cm) at the neck to suit drivers' needs over changing terrain.

In the wheel area, users will enjoy an easy-access angled control panel. The 9-ft. (2.7 m) long rear deck also is reinforced for a flip axle, allowing a third axle if needed to distribute the weight of the load.

A five-year structural warranty comes standard on all XL lowboys, including the new galvanized XL 80 MFG.
